How to add a chatbot
to WordPress.

Your theme stays. Your pages stay. You add one script — via a plugin or the footer — and a bubble appears that answers from your existing content.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Paste your WordPress URL into HyperChat, chat with the bot free, then put its script tag in the footer. Easiest path: an insert-headers-and-footers plugin today; the official HyperChat plugin once the directory listing is approved. Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi and WooCommerce all keep working — the widget is not a page-builder block.

01 // The steps

Four steps.
No theme edit required.

1

Build from your URL

Paste the WordPress site into HyperChat. It reads public pages so the bot knows your services, hours and FAQs.

2

Try it before you install

Chat on HyperChat first. If it cannot answer, that is missing copy on the site — fix the page, or teach the answer in the portal.

3

Copy the script

Going live (£49/mo) gives you one unique script tag.

4

Paste in the footer

Headers-and-footers plugin, or footer.php before </body>. Then load any public page and open the bubble.

02 // Three ways to paste

Pick the one you already use.

Insert headers and footers

Install any reputable “insert headers and footers” plugin, open its footer box, paste the HyperChat script, save. This is the path for most site owners today.

Official plugin

The HyperChat plugin passed Plugin Check and is submitted, awaiting human directory review. Once listed, you paste the bot ID in the plugin settings instead of hunting for footer.php.

footer.php

Appearance → Theme file editor → footer.php, paste before </body>. Use a child theme if you can, so an update does not wipe it. Skip this if you are not comfortable editing PHP.

03 // Common questions

WordPress specifics.

Will it work with Elementor, Gutenberg or Divi?
Yes. The widget is not a block. It loads from the footer on every template those builders output.
Does it work on WooCommerce?
Yes. It sits on product and cart pages too. It answers from published copy — it will not invent stock figures that are not on the site.
Do I need a developer?
No. If you can install a plugin, you can add this.
What if the bot does not know my products?
Then those products were not in the crawl, or the copy is too thin. Add a clear product or services page, rebuild, or type the answer into the teach-your-bot box.
